Orel came to me with several opal stones and the desire to design a personal piece of jewelry for his girlfriend. Opal is also the name of their first home, and Orel wanted a design element that speaks of motherhood in the jewel. We sat together on composition attempts of the stones and decided that the central piece would symbolize her as a containing and enveloping maternal figure. I made a pair of closely set stud earrings from the remaining two stones. 925 silver, opal stones.
